Diego Velez’s painting has a special nuance, in terms of figuration, his brushstroke find a relationship to the Fauvists of painting; the color is pure and the depth of the picture it is felt more by color stains and simple structural forms than by a sense of perspective. We could think of the famous perspective inverted in the composition, which is why in his paintings the sense of depth is given more by color blocks, profiles and faces that overlap in a playful way. Intuition plays a fundamental role in the way the artwork is created. The logic of meaning is completely broken and we enter the visual game that the artist in a freely and spontaneously present us, that is why in some way we travel back to our childhood when contemplating the work of Diego Velez.

I strongly believe in never leaving a piece unfinished and being part of the process from beginning to end. Selecting the color is a very careful process to give life to each painting looking for bright, colorful and powerful creations. My paintings explore the universe and the earth in constant change for natural and human causes through abstraction. Many times the ideas come from
dreams and from looking at the blank canvas producing works of art for the world that will last forever.
