FROM THE CURATOR
When contemplating the works of the artist BEN ISLAVA we go back to the memory of a volcanic magma, his works could be said to be constructed with magmas of color. In his compositions these colored spots build the picture, intersect, correlate, and create accidental dynamism of the matter. When the artist recreates the spaces of abstract art, the forms rotate approaching those germinal moments of the pictorial creation, when inserted in the figurative space, the representation flies in telluric movements produced by the matter itself.
FROM THE ARTIST
My art is merely an attempt to depict the inspiration I get everyday from natural phenomenons such as sunny days and breathtaking sunsets, glaciers, forests and fields covered in beautiful flowers. It’s these things that people more often than not take for granted that I want the audience to realize are there and learn to admire its beauty with me. Nature is amazing and we’re killing it. In my attempt to give it some justice I hope I can remind everyone of how beautiful and inspiring it is and we can do something to save this beautiful rock we live in.
